Community Health Centres Across Canada Are Fulfilling a Nation’s Need for Housing Support

Across Canada, housing continues to be a basic need that communities are struggling to have. Rising costs are pushing stability out of reach for many, with 45% of Canadians worried about affording housing and one-third struggling to meet household needs. CHCs are crucial to connecting those in need with supports and helping clients navigate systems to find housing solutions. At times, our CHCs even have shelter or housing options as part of their services, making sure their communities are safe. As Canada hits colder climates, CACHC is highlighting a few examples of how our CHCs are providing housing solutions to their community.

Click the bubbles below to learn more about how four Canadian Community Health Centres are helping ease the burden of housing needs on their communities.

We are proud of the work of all our member CHCs providing housing programs, shelter options and support for those precariously housed. For more on our recommendations, please visit our policy guide on housing here.
