We speak with Rhiannon Thomas and Sarah Greig from South Riverdale Community Health Centre in Toronto about how the COVID-19 pandemic has intensified the ongoing overdose and opioid pandemic. We explore how the team at South Riverdale CHC has worked, against significant odds, to ensure continuous, accessible, and timely support for members of the community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and we touch on some of the systemic and policy shifts needed to save lives and to better support community-based first responders.

Thank you @Rhiannon and Sarah! We’re very grateful that you shared your experiences with us and look forward to working in solidarity to push for the systemic policy and funding changes you highlight to ward the end of the podcast. This is a continuation of advocacy work we’ve undertaken in the past, of course, building on our call for federal, provincial and municipal support for harm reduction approaches. It reminded me of the important resolution from South Riverdale CHC and Sandy Hill CHC which CACHC members adopted in 2016, and which I’ve attached here again for reference. To be continued!
