Location: Gateway Community Health Centre, Tweed, and other satellite locations as required.
Pay: $48,552.00–$57,120.00 annually- Salary is currently under review
Schedule: 7.5-hour shifts (Flexibility for evening shifts and program service hours)

Position Summary

As a key member of the interprofessional team, the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) supports client care management and virtual care delivery. This role includes clinical assessment, treatment, and support of infection control practices, all in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario standards.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Support:

• Manage client flow, assessments, and health education
• Perform procedures: suture removal, dressing changes, injections, immunizations, allergy treatments, venipuncture, urine testing
• Provide assistance with medical procedures and emergency response
• Follow infection prevention and control (IPAC) protocols
• Collaborate with providers and team members to coordinate referrals and care plans
• Document point-of-care activities per CNO and CHC standards

Scope of Practice Includes:

• Administering allergy shots and vaccines
• Applying IPAC protocols, including equipment reprocessing
• Supporting chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, hypertension)
• Conducting age-appropriate health assessments
• Following medical directives and standing orders
• Delivering health teaching and promotion

Qualifications

• Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Completed medication administration and reconciliation course
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a primary health care setting
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills
• Experience in fast-paced, team-based environments
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and EMR systems (e.g., Telus)
• Wound care and foot care training is considered an asset
• Demonstrated respect for diversity and inclusive client care
