The Alex is a non-profit health and social services organization that has provided integrated and accessible supports and thoughtful, comprehensive care to Calgarians for over 50 years. With a full complement of health, housing, and community programs (Community Health Centre, Seniors Health Centre, Youth Health Centre, Rapid Access Addiction Medicine, Community Food Centre, Housing Programs, Dental Health Programs, Community Health Bus, Youth Health Bus, and Youth Pre/Post Natal Program), the Alex is a hub of supports and outreach services for people who are experiencing poverty, trauma, social isolation, or health challenges including addiction. Using a patient and client-centred, multi-disciplinary model of care, The Alex offers the right care, to the right client, by the right professional at the right time, in the right place.

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Operations Officer – Community Health (COO-CH) is responsible for development, oversight and integration of health and community services for youth, families, and the community of vulnerable populations. The COO-CH will work collaboratively with the CEO, the COO-Housing and the Executive Leadership Team to ensure the overall operations of the organization are in support of strategic objectives. This position provides oversight for a $19 million budget, and responsibility for a team of 100+ FTE across two significant and complex portfolios: Primary Health Care and Mental Health, Addictions and Community Outreach. An important focus will be on identifying and optimizing opportunities to implement best and emerging practices to better serve clients, patients, employees, and stakeholders.
