Bridging the Gap in Funding and Access to CHCs
In October 2016, the Canadian Association of Community Health Centres released organizational research about the status of Community Health Centres (CHCs) across Canada.
While the findings further highlight the integrated model of health and social services delivered by CHCs they also reveal alarming gaps in the level of funding and support received by CHCs across the country.
94% of CHCs report significant operational pressures resulting from funding shortfalls. In some provinces, CHCs receive very little or no core operational funding. Moreover, the vast majority of Canadians still do not have access to a CHC in their community.
These major gaps in funding and access are preventing Canadians from receiving the high-quality, integrated health and wellbeing services they want. These gaps also prevent us from improving health and making better use of funding we already put into our health and social service systems across Canada.
Join in calling on governments to invest in CHCs to overcome these gaps. Please add your name to two petitions below:

For Community Health Centres
It’s important for Members of Parliament, Members of provincial legislatures, and municipal governments to hear directly from Community Health Centres at a local level.
We strongly encourage your Community Health Centre to write to your Member(s) of Parliament to help them better understand your organization as well as the diverse operational and/or capital pressures your CHC faces in meeting demand for your services and local needs. You can find your MP and MLA/MPP using the links below.
